Back to Swinging

It seems like just yesterday we were crossing the street in Ann Arbor to take Bridger swinging when he was a baby. Some of our favorite pictures of our "B" are in the swings in Belize Park. Time flies, and now it's Larsen's turn. We took Larsen swinging for the first time at a park near our house on Saturday during a break in the rain. She loved it, and Bridger loved showing her the ropes. I don't want to think about how fleeting this moment with Larsen will seem. I am sure it will be a blink of an eye before she is as big as Bridger as sliding down poles like a fire fighter!

Bridger on the swing (though he is a little older than Larsen (7 months-but this is one of our faves and a good Bridger smile...since well he wasn't quite the grinner Larsen it...but we still love him to bits anyway.)

Fab Five!

..Months that is!

Last Monday I was officially five months old. Mommy managed to take my pictures that day, but since it is pretty busy around here she didn't get a chance to get me all set up with the computer so I could give you my updates until today.

Here's the skinny (well because I am not...don't you love my cheeks?...squeezing allowed!)
I am really starting to do tons of rolling over. The problem is I am an expert at rolling back to front, but I rarely roll front to back. I do like playing on my belly, but at sleep times being stuck on my belly sometimes gets me down. I also tend to get my leg through the crib slats, and then I get really mad and don't go to sleep. Some of these sleeping and rolling issues are also due to the fact I don't use the swaddle anymore. I never loved it like Bridger did and kicked my way out of it a lot. I had a few nights of it being caught up over my face or around my neck and Mommy decided that it was dangerous so away it went. The danger of the swaddle is only somewhat more than the danger of my erratic sleeping of late though. I am still up a lot at night and it is totally unpredictable. Mommy and my nanny are working hard to get me on a good daytime schedule, which is supposed to result in better nights. However, I don't like to follow all the rules so even though I am doing pretty well with the daytime nonsense I party at night.

Let's see is there other big news? Yes there is! This week I tried some rice cereal. This is a few weeks earlier than Bridger when he was a baby and it is still a little too early probably. However, I keep swiping at everyone's food and not really drinking from the bottle during the day so Mommy thought is was worth a try. I am not sure I know what to do with it and have you noticed the taste!? Bridger and the 'rents eat all this yummy looking stuff and they give me that! The injustice of it all is written on my face in the video as you can see. Nevertheless Mommy will press on and give me a break for a week or two and try again. She wants me to get good at cereal before I get other stuff. We'll see if I decide to let her proceed with that plan.

Rice cereal aside I do like my little modern high chair. I enjoy playing in it while others are eating.

Before I forget, here's a picture of my with Avery my nanny share partner. We were headed out for a walk in our giant stroller.

I'll talk to you next month when there will be absolutely crazy news about achieving the half year mark.

Big Kid Stuff

Do you know that I am a big kid now?! Yep...since the last time I posted I have been doing all kinds of big kid things. It all started a few weeks ago, when I went upstairs and joined the big kid class at school. The downstairs or little kid class is for kids that are two and since I am almost three and all my friends were moving upstairs I got to go too. I am having lots of fun there and learning lots and lots.

Right after I went to the big kid class Mommy and Daddy told me it was time for me to move to a big boy bed. They said something about being tired of me yelling about needing to go potty at 5 in the AM everyday from my crib. I told them that in my big boy bed I would get up, go potty, and stay in my bed until after 6 like they tell me to every day. (I like to get up early but Mommy and Daddy really don't like to be up until after 6). I did that the very first night in my big boy bed. Sometimes I forget that rule and get up earlier and go into their room, or I get scared and get up in the middle of the night, but usually I do follow the rules. I love my new bed. In my new bed I sleep with a pillow and blanket, which I never did in my crib. I even helped Daddy put together my big boy bed!

The last big kid thing I just started doing was bringing my lunch to school. I got a new lunch box with sharks on it. I love it. My school is no longer providing lunch (Mommy is VERY sad about that!) so I bring it every day in my super cool lunch box. Oh Mommy said not to forget that I have an ever expanding vocabulary and I am starting to be able to rhyme on my own and even did reasoning by analogy once (Mommy and Daddy are so tired though they can't remember exactly what I said, but it was super cute when I did it.) I also mimic them a lot. They love hearing me talk to Larsen as I use a lot of the words they do and it is very sweet to hear. Anyway, that's all from me...hope you're having fun!
