Hunkered Down!

The rain is started which means Hurricane Irene is on her way. We are hoping it goes a little off shore to limit the effect, but either way the weather is going to be frightful for the next 24 hours. We have our emergency supplies and the wine fridge is full so we should be all set! It has been an exciting week around here with an earthquake on Tuesday. Fortunately I was home so I was at least with one of the kids when it happened. A couple pictures fell off the shelves and the brick wall "coughed up" a lot of mortar but other than that we were fine. It was scary though since we don't expect those things in these parts. Today we went to the park early to get some energy out and then came home to do some "painting." Bridger does not particularly love art projects but seems to be getting more into them and has recently loved painting. We don't have the best set-up for it but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves nonetheless. Larsen just enjoys being part of the action...especially if it is her big brother causing the action.

In other big news this week we started with our nanny share. That is ok...a bit to get used to, but we are hoping it all works out. Bridger also started in the "big kid" class. He has moved from the toddler class (2s) to the primary class (3-5) at his school. He has been super-excited for the move but was a little nervous on Monday about actually starting. He even said his belly hurt and he couldn't go to school. He was totally fine though. In addition to painting he is also loving doing chalk outside. We had gorgeous weather early in the week and both of the kids got to enjoy some time in our "yard" either chalking or watching it.

Larsen's big news is she is now an exersaucer girl as you can see above. I think she likes the music and such but really likes that she is part of the action without being held. Bridger loved showing her around the new toy (which he sits in occasionally). She is also enjoying tummy time a bit more. She has rolled a few more times so she might be a bit more mobile soon. Watch out! We had her 4 month check last week and she is just fine. She weighed 16lbs 5 oz and was 25.5inches long. She is a big girl...but we knew that already! Hopefully we won't blow away today and tonight and will be back with more exciting news soon!

Fantastic Four Months

I turned four months old yesterday! Mommy and Daddy are still having fun with all my smiles and squeals. However this last week has not been fantastic for anybody. Bridger and I are learning to go to bed in the same room. Two of the last three mornings have started at 4am (and we aren't even in the same room later in the night). I think it is a bit rough on Bridger having his routine disrupted but Mommy and Daddy really do want their room back at least at the beginning of the night. So we are either going to get it together or Mommy and Daddy are going to walk around totally exhausted and crabby! Enough of the drama around here, let's talk about me!

Eating: I am SO excited to try real food and have been trying to grab what is on the table as often as I can, but Mom says no food other than milk for me until at least 5 months. I still love to eat. I still don't have an eating schedule but I am eating a little less frequently and the 'rents think my weight gain trajectory is slowing. It might be due to my "dieting" while Mommy is at work. I am getting a bit better with the bottle, especially with Daddy. Each of the last three Fridays I have taken four ounces from Daddy while Mommy was in clinic. Speaking of clinic I visit Mommy there during the middle of the day so I don't have to got 10-11 hours without seeing her (well she doesn't want to go that long without seeing me either!). Last week I got weighed in her clinic, and I weight 15lbs 9 oz. I was wearing my clothes so I am probably not quite that much, but place your bets now on whether I weigh more than 16 lbs at my 4 month check next week.

Sleeping: Well no real schedule there either. It is partly due to all the changes with Mommy going back to work and the bedtime shenanigans. I am in general waking up a little less now that I am doing more napping during the day. Mommy is really hoping when she writes my 5 month post I will be on a nice nap schedule and have a predictable nighttime pattern.
Other stuff: I am still all smiles. I drool a lot and make puddles on everybody's shirts. I need to graduate to Size 3 diapers as soon as these Size 2s run out as I am having more "explosions" than before and the 'rents are tired of all that laundry. I am doing so much better with tummy time, and today worked really hard on rolling from front to back. Maybe by the end of the week I'll do it. I have not rolled from back to front since that one time. A repeat performance may be some time away says Mommy. I am getting really good at grabbing things and bringing them to my mouth. My favorite toys for this are a mesh ball and Sophie the giraffe. I also have more sitting strength as you can see. Maybe by next month I will be doing it almost on my own! Talk to you then!!
